This year, the BCA peeps get together to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation! So, think Canada Day, think red and white and dress up your boat in the most Canadian fashion – there will be a prize for the best decorated boat in the bay. And, be sure to wear your own best red and white attire for the potluck dinner on the Sunday – there may even be prizes as well for the best outfits! In the meantime, dig up your best Canadian potluck recipe and be prepared for a great weekend full of activities and fun. There will be lots of games and prizes too!

Here’s the rough plan for the weekend. Details will be in your welcome package:

  • Check in with host boat Ostara anytime after noon on Saturday, receive your welcome package and pay the $5.00 per person fee

  • Welcome Appie Hour at group picnic area Saturday evening

  • Breakfast at group picnic area Sunday morning – bring your own hot beverage

  • Floating lunch, water activities and games on Sunday

  • Swap meet on Sunday: bring some treasures you would like to get rid of to display at the tables.

  • Potluck dinner: bring a side dish or salad AND appetizer or dessert to the potluck. Come dressed-up in your best Canadiana attire and gather at the group picnic area Sunday evening to enjoy the potluck dinner, the Leavers’ Packages presentations and the award of the Petterson Cup. BCA provides the roast beef and roast lamb!

  • Name that Canadian Tune contest after dinner! Bring your own musical instrument for the infamous impromptu BCA sea-shanty sessions

  • Breakfast and check out Monday morning

All members are invited, even if you do not have a boat yet. Camping is allowed on Newcastle Island, so be ready to pitch your tents, or your kids’ tents for that matter! There is room for 20+ campers, however, we were required to pre-pay for 5 tent spaces, so the first five members to register for camping get a free spot, after that, the fee is $15.00 per tent in addition to the $5.00 fee for the event registration.

Please RSVP above by July 22 (so we know how much meat to get)

We ask that you bring your own plates, napkins and cutlery to all events. Garbage removal is available on site. Alcohol consumption is permitted on the group picnic site. Please be responsible and respectful
