Vancouver and Vancouver Island Fleets consist of BCA members who are actively planning to leave for offshore. They arrange programs to aid in their voyage preparation. Some programs consist of panels of other BCA members who have been offshore where they discuss and compare their experiences. Other programs cover topics of interest such as safety at sea, radio communications, weather, routing, insurance, etc, and are presented by local experts either in the association or in related marine trades. These monthly, and often more frequent, meetings serve to provide mutual support in solving the problems of preparing for their voyages. By means of these meetings and various social gatherings they get to know their fellow adventurers who will become strong friends as they meet again in distant ports.
